Cultural & Development Context

  • Named by Ngāi Tai ki Tāmaki – Tāwharau means "to shelter/take refuge"
  • Inspired by Tai a Te Wharau, a traditional Tāmaki River trading stop

  • 3 standalone industrial buildings (8,315 m²)

  • Concrete by: Stevensons – low carbon mix using:
    • 10% Fly Ash cement replacement
    • 17% Alternative fuels in cement production
    • 25% Recycled aggregates
    • 500+ m³ of low-carbon concrete used
  • 161 precast units (~3,000+ m² of panels & stairs)

Monarc Finishes – Architectural Innovation

  • Diamond-cut façades by Monarc
  • 5mm cuts at 8mm centres across 12m high panels
  • Black oxide pigmentation used (no painting needed)
  • 33 panels processed with 600,000+ litres of 100% recycled rainwater
  • Zero trade waste discharge – water-efficient & environmentally responsible
